Becoming is based on two forms of poetry – haiku and renga. The brief, vivid images that are the essence of haiku express something deeper than words – the sharing of feelings and perceptions that are universal. Becoming was commissioned by pianist Len Vorster for the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival in 2006.
Haiku composed by: Bunya no Asayasu, Shjui Miya, Natsume Seibi, Masaoka Shiki, Sonojo, Natsume Sõseki, Fujiwara no Toshiyuki, Jack de Vidas, Janice Bostok, and Johanna Selleck.
The poetry is set in 4 languages: English, French, Japanese, and Tibetan.
